Aloe plantDid you know that adding Aloe vera to your diet can improve your digestion?

The aloe plant is made up from a large variety of amino acids, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals, and taken internally, it has numerous health benefits.

Aloe vera gel contains vitamins such as B12, A, some B-group vitamins, C, E, and folic acid. And, it also incorporates 19 of the 20 amino acids needed by the human body and seven of the eight essential ones that cannot be made.

According to the Journal of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, using aloe vera as a juice can aids in your digestion. Drinking the juice naturally allows the body to cleanse the digestive system. Aloe vera encourages the bowels to move and, if a person is constipated, helps with eliminating the waste. And, if a person has diarrhea, Aloe vera can slow down the process.

The journal added that Aloe vera increases energy levels. Since our diets include many foods and substances which often cause fatigue and exhaustion, aloe vera juice ensures a higher feeling of “well-being” if taken regularly. It also allows the energy levels to increase and can help in maintaining a healthy body weight.

Another important benefit is that Aloe builds immunity. It can be beneficial for those who may have chronic immune disorders.  Its juice contains polysaccharides which stimulate macrophages, the white blood cells that fight viruses.

In addition, aloe vera detoxifies your body. The juice is an excellent aid to detox. Everyone needs to cleanse his or her system from time to time due to the food eaten, the stress one endures, and the pollution one encounters. Drinking aloe vera juice will provide numerous vitamins, minerals, and other elements to assist your body to deal with the stresses and strains faced in everyday life.

Aloe vera can also reduce inflammation as it improves joint flexibility and helps in the regeneration of body cells. It is also known to strengthen your joint muscles which in turn will reduce discomfort and inflammation in any weakened or aging joints.

Finally, according to Dr. Santiago Rodriguez of Lorand Laboratories, Aloe vera functions as a probiotic which promotes the growth of good flora to optimize digestive function. Ingesting Aloe vera metabolizes the polysaccharides, thus helping with our digestion

One final benefit of Aloe vera is that it alkalizes the body. Aloe vera is an alkaline forming food and when it alkalizes the body, it helps to balance overly acidic dietary habits.
